Overview

The Deosai Plateau, situated 32 km southwest of Skardu and accessible via the Satpara Lake, is an extensive high-altitude plateau with an average elevation of 3,500 meters (11,660 feet). Stretching across 70 km, it serves as a crucial connection between Baltistan and the Astore Valley. The Deosai plateau is renowned for its remarkable biodiversity, notably as the habitat of the critically endangered Himalayan Brown Bear. Today, it holds the status of a protected park, dedicated to the conservation and safeguarding of its wildlife.

Blanketed in snow for approximately seven months each year, the region undergoes a stunning transformation as spring arrives. Vast expanses of lush greenery come to life, adorned with a profusion of wildflowers and crisscrossed by pristine streams, all set against the backdrop of majestic snow-capped peaks.
