Overview

Tirich Valley, an extensive western offshoot of the Turikho Valley, leads toward the foot of some of the loftiest peaks in the Hindu Kush range, including Noshaq, Istor-o-Nal, and Tirich Mir. The well-frequented trek to Tirich Mir Base Camp involves crossing the Lower Tirich Glacier, so prior experience with glacier travel can be advantageous. The base camp is locally known as Babu Camp, a name honoring Babu Mohammad, a seasoned guide who, when not leading treks, can often be found at Chitral's Mountain Inn. While bearing a resemblance to the Baltoro Glacier trek, the Tirich Mir Base Camp trek is notably shorter and less physically demanding, making it an excellent choice for enthusiasts of colossal mountains and grand glaciers.
